Firefighters quell Structure Fire!

Ledyard Fire Company was dispatched to the report of a working fire at 673 Shewville Road. Upon arrival of Firefighter Tym Gray, found heavy fire from structure. Mashantucket Fire Department                  Engine F-12 was first due and made entry to the building and knocked down the fire. Ledyard Deputy Chief Jeff Gaccione took command of the scene upon arrival. Reported to command that fire was coming out the windows. Fire was knocked down quickly by first entry crew. The house was set off the road approx 200 feet. GFFC Engine R-21 laid a five inch line from the dry hydrant to the scene for water supply. GFFC Tanker R-24 feed Ledyard Engine R-13 and Mashantucket Engine F-12 with a three inch line. Upon starting overhaul a meter was sent in and found zero parts per million and crews were taken off air and further overhaul was done. Ledyard Fire Marshal responded to scene as well as Fire Chief McKernan and Mayor Fred Allyn. CL&P removed electrical power to house. Scene was cleared at 0730 hours.
